Straight answers about grants and funding
Learn what Grants.com does, what it does not do, and what to expect from our assessment and membership.
Are you a grant provider?
No. We’re a research and matching service. Grants come from governments, foundations, and corporations, and you apply directly with them.
Are you affiliated with the government?
No. Grants.com is an independent, for-profit service operated by Hodie LLC. We link to official government sources, but we are not a government agency.
Do you guarantee I’ll get funding?
No — and nobody honestly can. We show you what fits your profile; outcomes depend on the funder or lender.
Can individuals get grants for personal expenses?
Rarely. Most grants serve organizations — nonprofits, researchers, and some businesses in specific programs. If you are seeking personal financial assistance, government benefit programs rather than grants are usually the realistic path.
Is the assessment free, and how long does it take?
It is free, takes about two minutes, and requires no account. It does not affect your credit — we never pull credit, and all ranges are self-reported.
Are grant applications free?
Legitimate government grant applications are free. Anyone charging a fee to release or process grant money is running a scam. See our Grant Scam Safety Center.
Why charge for membership if grants are listed free elsewhere?
Every listing in our database is available free at its official source. Pro members pay for consolidation, profile matching, deadline alerts, calendar sync, and monthly personalized reports — the time-saving layer, not secret access.
How current is the database?
Listings are synchronized automatically from official sources on a regular schedule. Each listing links back to its source.
Will someone contact me after the assessment?
Only if your profile qualifies for partner funding and you have consented. Partner outreach will reference your Grants.com assessment. If you do not qualify or opt in, no one calls.
Do you sell my information?
We never sell your information to list brokers. We share it with a funding partner only according to your consent at intake. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I cancel a Pro membership?
You can cancel at any time through your account billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, and access continues until then. First-charge refunds are available within seven days.
Can you apply for a grant on my behalf?
No. If you want hands-on application help, Pro members can request a consultation with an experienced grant consultant. Any consulting fees are quoted directly by the consultant.
